The invention of the water pump in the 20th century gave new impetus to the advancement of floor heating. But few could afford to use expensive copper pipes for underfloor hot water. The situation changed in the 80s of the twentieth century, when economical and durable pipes made of polymers appeared. The warm water floor revolution has come to pass: they began to be designed and installed in buildings under construction as the main source of heating. In some European countries, the indicator of houses built with warm water floors in the last decades of the twentieth century was 90%. But the peculiarity and disadvantage of the water option is that it is difficult and too expensive to implement it in an already built house or apartment. Other technical solutions were needed. They were offered by Denmark in the form of electric underfloor heating.

The history of the invention of the electric floor began in 1942 in a workshop where irons were repaired. A year later, in 1943, a sample of an industrial heating cable appeared.At first, cable systems were adapted for the needs of the street: for heating roofs, drains, pipes, ramps, and later they began to be used for floor heating. The relatively inexpensive, convenient, easy-to-install technology gained more and more supporters, and the boom in popularity began about 10 years ago.

The latest advancement in underfloor heating is the innovative infrared foil floor. The thin laminated film is composed of carbon fiber heating elements and conductive strips. The principle of their action is the emission of infrared rays. Film thickness is only 0.4 - 0.6 mm. The infrared floor has a lot of advantages: it fits most floor coverings, does not require screed, and is easy to install.

Dimensions and power

The dimensions of the electric underfloor heating under the carpet can be completely different. In stores there are both large and very small mats.
